The boys rocked up to a dingy 3pm pushback at the fortress with a win in our sights against a Haslemere side we'd beaten frequently in the past, however there was no over confidence, and this showed with a slightly cagey first few minutes. A lack of being switched on (Jude especially almost gifting a goal if it weren't for a misplaced shot) however the team grew into the game and started to take control and win shorts. It wasn't until 24 minutes where Tristan broke the deadlock, flicking from a short corner into the curiously exposed right side of the goal. A couple more goals came before the half from Noah and Ed taking a 3-0 lead into the break. Although the good score on paper, the boys were playing far off the pace of what we could, and showed last week, and after a half time team talk from Duffy the boys restarted. A second goal in as many games came for Simon before Theo netted a couple of nice strikes and Ed finished the scoring at 7-0. George Baker managed to get a Green for not retreating (Wilf was lucky to not be carded earlier in the game for hitting the ball away, twice) and Baker also took it up on himself to be 'friendly' with the opposition keeper, taking him to the ground with a hefty collision, earning him DOTD. Theo claimed MOTM for involvement in most goals, with Ed not far behind in votes. A much better second half performance.
A good start to the league for the boys with Winchester away next week.
